Publications - Radio frequencies

The European standard for social alarms (EN 50134-5) sets out certain requirements for the design of radio interconnections within a social alarm system. (A radio interconnection may exist between a local unit and a trigger device, e.g. a pendant, or between a local unit and its group controller.) The standard stipulates that, for radio interconnections without managed spectrum access, only radio frequencies dedicated to social alarm systems shall be used for the transmission of alarm and fault conditions.

Radio spectrum is allocated within Europe by The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administration (CEPT). This organisation has allocated radio spectrum for the exclusive use of social alarm systems in two specific frequency bands. These are:

169.4 to 169.8125 MHz

869.2 to 869.25 MHz

Details of the frequency range and/or channel allocation can be found within the CEPT Decision document relating to that spectrum. A copy of which can be viewed by clicking on the frequency listed above.
